Our Project Team committee aims to provide interested students with the necessary technical skills to pursue work in mechanically-oriented bioengineering fields. PT is open to everyone of all skill levels (no general application required!) and aims to be a welcoming and fun environment for everyone involved. Those who feel confident with the mechanical, electrical, and software design skills needed for the project can jump right into working, leadership roles, while those who are new to these skills can learn from their peers and attend the many PT workshops to hone their craft. This year, Project Team will be continuing a bidirectional robotic arm interface controlled by a haptic feedback glove started from last year’s team. The robotic arm and haptic glove interface with one another, translating user-input into mechanical output and returning observed sensory input back to the user. If you are interested in working on this project, we're excited to see you at PT's committee meetings!
If you want to get involved, you can join our Discord or follow us on Instagram!
Next meeting: Sat, Oct 17th, 3 p.m. at DIB Makerspace
Hello! I’m a 4th year BENG student, and I’m super excited to be your PT Co-Chair. I’m currently in the Talke lab and CMRG lab. I’ve also spent time in the medtech industry interning at Medtronic, where I got to dive deep into medical device design and development, specifically focusing on heart valves. Please reach out if you are interested to hear about my experience! In my free time, you can find me playing volleyball (indoor and beach), hanging out at the beach, watching sitcoms, or hunting for new local food spots!
Hello everyone, I am a Bioengineering major originally from the state of Michoacán, Mexico. My interests are primarily in medical devices and bioinstrumentation, particularly in developing technologies that can improve healthcare. Currently, I am conducting research on the development of a surface electromyography (sEMG) system to assess muscle fatigue in surgeons.
Hi everyone! My name is Matthew Hwang, and I am a 4th year Mechanical Engineering major in Thurgood Marshall college! I'm super excited to bring my engineering knowledge to Project Team and apply it to biomedical topics. Outside of academics I love exploring the great outdoors and am always looking for something to keep me active!
Hi everyone! I'm Anjali, a third year BENG:BENG major in Marshall College, serving as a Project Team Co-Chair for BMES this year. I have loved bring involved in BMES for the last couple years, holding the positions of Social Committee Co-Chair and Advertisement Sublead of New Student Committee. Outside of BMES, I work at the Institute of Engineering in Medicine and co-lead Triton Prosthetics Society's Beginner Project Team. This past summer I interned at Johnson and Johnson in R&D, working on cardiac ablation catheters. In my free time, I like to play sports, go to the beach, bake, and play board games. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or just want to yap!
We don't currently have any upcoming events. Check back later, or go participate in another committee!
